This activity allows students to work independently with a given set of data. They will determine all parts to the data's measures of central tendency including any outliers (if any) and creating a box-whisker plot. Once they are done working independently, then they will find their "partner" who has the other half of their data (vice versa for the partner). After writing the remaining data on their own sheet, they will then recalculate the measures of central tendency and box-whisker plot with all the data together. They will need to complete the questions at the bottom of their sheet to see if there were any changes. This activity is a great way to see if students can do their calculations on their own and then check it with a partner and make comparisons. There are 10 versions of this activity which will eventually convert to 5 "partner sets". An answer key for all versions is provided.
This Classwork Assignment is from my NC Math Curriculum - Unit # 8: Statistics.
Important Note about Classwork (CW) Assignments:
I only do CW for a lesson that I know students need extra practice so if a CW is assigned for a particular lesson(s) than it's important for that unit it is in.
